SPB Keyboard Update 4.1.1 released

I’ve said before “I’m an SPB software fan”, so any news of an update to a SPB application is a joy to me. I got news today that the best finger friendly SIP I’ve ever used has gained an update.

When I reviewed this SIP last year I was so impressed that I actually compared it to the iPhone SIP, and this update brings no change to  this keyboard, except that it’s smoother and better. Producing this kind of SIP for devices with predominantly resistive touch screens at the moment is a feat that almost defy’s the hardware limitations. If you are still using a device without a hardware keyboard you might want to check this out, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

I recently had a look at SPB Wallet 2.0, taking the point of view, what’s new/ and what makes me fell warm and fuzzy about the update, or what works well for me in the update. Now Clinton is using the sane device as me to look at the program, and He’s treated it like a first time look, it’s a really great look at SPB Wallet 2.0.

If you really are having a hard time deciding on a wallet application for windows mobile, hit the link, Clinton’s put up a manual…

Review: Spb Wallet 2.0

spbwallet_1 I have to say, I’ve been using Spb Wallet since version 1.0, and I want to refer you to the review that made me pick up the program in the first place. TJ really pointed out what made the application great in that iteration, and sold me on it. Then when I read Lauren’s head to head, of eWallet and Spb Wallet, I had already upgraded to Spb Wallet 1.5, and have been using it ever since. So any new upgrade is on my radar, when version 2,0 came out, I had my sleeping bag and was waiting on line for my download, virtually.

Of course, Spb Wallet is a very stable, and time tested application, but the tendency to focus on finger friendly, sans stylus, applications has driven many windows mobile developers to upgrade the UI’s they include in updates. most WinMo devices don’t have a large screen, so the finger friendly options become a moot point. Although, they make apps look a whole lot better.

Spb Wallet 2.0 offers a new UI, a bevy of new syncing options, and a more succinct file system, compacting your previous wallet files, let’s go

Press Release: Spb Wallet 2.0

pc_capture1Spb Software today announced Spb Wallet 2.0, and for all of you out there going Ho-Hum another version update for another program, I beg you to reconsider.

The really big thing about this update is that it announces Spb’s new approach, as Spb Wallet will eventually [dependant on app store processing] be available across three OS platforms. Windows Mobile, Symbian and iPhone. A first in the world of mobile software development. I’m still to be able to compare the applications side by side, but a little Twitter I had today from a friend, installing it on a N85, showed a gleeful appreciation of the programs features on installation.

I’ve been using Spb Wallet for a long time, since 1.0, and I’m liking what I’m seeing at the moment, new UI options, new syncing options, and a more compact core, and file compression. Remember this is a complete PC/Mobile device package, with AES 256 encryption.

Spb Wallet 2.0, Select Features:

  • Supported platforms: Windows Desktop (2000, 2003, XP, Vista), Windows Mobile 5+ (Professional and Standard), Apple iPhone and iPod, Symbian S60 (9.0+)
  • Strong AES 256 encryption
  • Integrated Online Templates Gallery with 7,000+ most popular cards, and option to order customized cards for FREE
  • Improved integration with Firefox and Internet Explorer: protection from phishing, login Autocomplete for familiar sites, automatic capture of login information for new ones
  • New desktop synchronization engine: synchronization with Google mail, network folders, Apple iPhone via Bonjour
  • Automatic wallet lockup & clipboard cleanup
  • Active card fields: open web sites, send emails, send text messages, make phone calls, and copy data to clipboard – straight from Spb Wallet
  • Importing wizard, password generator, quick search

A great update from a forward thinking company, I’ll have a review in a couple of days, but hit the link below for the full press release, and to get an upgrade if you are eligible, or to try it out, you know you want to!

Press Releases: Spb Mobile Shell 3

OK I’ll have to admit this is a teaser, from SPB. With the Mobile World Congress about to kick off on the sixteenth of this month, the leaks have become a gusher already. So thanks to SPB for  letting us know what they are up to, and no thanks for the hair pulling tension that they are creating by not giving us any screenshots of Mobile Shell 3. When Doug reviewed Mobile Shell 2 I deigned not to update, but I might have to now. The evil thing SPB have done is included a map to their stall/booth at MWC, rather than showing us the app as such.

At least you’ll be able to find them if you are there.

One thing I do know, if you are a fan, you’ll want to be having a look at this when it’s released. One thing that SPB do well is update, they start their apps with a strong core and build on them, you can look at one of their applications and still find the original program at the core. I can’t wait to try this out. Oh did i mention I’m an SPB fanboy!

When our own TJChan reviewed SPB Online back in October, one point he made in his conclusion was

Whilst not complying with all of TJ’s requests, SPB announce today an update for the TV services in SPB Online, adding additional channels, boosting the total to 40, in 11 languages.

Also don’t forget that the SPB Christmas Offer is still running until December 30.

Review: SPB Keyboard 4

I am definitely a self professed SPB Software fanboy, I love their software, and I make no bones about it. That fact though, doesn’t make me biased, if they serve up a lemon, I’m gonna purse my lips and say yuck!

Now I’ve still got SPB Full Screen Keyboard loaded on my device, and it was the earliest attempt at a finger friendly keyboard for WinMo.

The keyboard is one of the most important aspects of human interfacing with a mobile device.  The award-winning SPB Full Screen Keyboard was first released back in 2002, and is one of Spb’s flagship products with more than a six-year-long history of success.  This finger-friendly on-screen keyboard came out way before the iPhone notion of usability, but still accumulated tens of thousands of loyal customers from all over the world.

OK the need for a finger friendly SIP has considerably reduced, iPhone has it, but most people are opting for devices with hardware keyboards, but for those of us who can’t afford to update this is looking like very good news. Hit the link below to see why I think so!
