Review: SPB Keyboard 4

I am definitely a self professed SPB Software fanboy, I love their software, and I make no bones about it. That fact though, doesn’t make me biased, if they serve up a lemon, I’m gonna purse my lips and say yuck!

Now I’ve still got SPB Full Screen Keyboard loaded on my device, and it was the earliest attempt at a finger friendly keyboard for WinMo.

The keyboard is one of the most important aspects of human interfacing with a mobile device.  The award-winning SPB Full Screen Keyboard was first released back in 2002, and is one of Spb’s flagship products with more than a six-year-long history of success.  This finger-friendly on-screen keyboard came out way before the iPhone notion of usability, but still accumulated tens of thousands of loyal customers from all over the world.

OK the need for a finger friendly SIP has considerably reduced, iPhone has it, but most people are opting for devices with hardware keyboards, but for those of us who can’t afford to update this is looking like very good news. Hit the link below to see why I think so!

Review: SpeedScript 2.0.

 sshot004

The interminable quest for the perfect text input solution for WinMo Touch Screen devices goes on and on and on. I can hear the groans, Peter’s got another SIP to look at, but bare with me cause this is something different, that hasn’t been at the top of the SIP charts.

SpeedScript is not from a major mobile software provider, is probably new or vaguely remembered by most of the mobile community, and offers something different in input technology.

When Doug reviewed the first version of this keyboard, he had constructive thoughts about it, but now with a QWERTY keyboard it is really an option you might want to try.

It may not be as graphically slick as some SIPs and is not focused solely on finger friendly, but as far as I’m concerned it’s a real contender in the SIP wars!

Review: Teksoft Fingertouch Pro

Teksoft Fingertouch Pro Teksoft Fingertouch Keyboard was the first application that I ever reviewed, and I liked it so much, that until recently it has been my default SIP [software input program]. So what would make me change that? Teksoft have just released version 2.0, or Fingertouch Pro, and you know I’m gonna get me some of that action right.

In the initial news post I did about Fingertouch Pro I included a video from the dedicated Fingertouch website. It showed some pretty fast text input on a touch screen, using fT9 technology that most of us would be familiar with from mobile phones. Obviously that piqued my interest. Having tried most of the new  entries into the SIP wars over the last year, I was pleasantly surprised to find Teksoft hadn’t tried to emulate the SIP from that fruity phone, but had added to their already great application.

So how does it work? and will I keep it? you’ll have to read on…
