One of the things we all need is a secure store for all of our personal information, a digital wallet. There a re a few out there, SPB Wallet, EWallet, and SafeWallet from SBSH. Recently SBSH announced that they had released a version of SafeWallet for iPhone and iPod Touch. Today I got an email that details a special deal, for the new iVersion, it’s $5.99 for a limited time.

A Post Resurrection! and some answers for Windows Mobile Fans
The other day I told you about some attempted transparency from Microsoft, over at the Windows Mobile Facebook page. I was, to say the least, sceptical at the time, but it seems Microsoft have finally deemed to grace fans at FaceBook with some answers! Answers though that are innocuous, and well, affected by a generous slathering of PR spin, sanitised and no real answers at all. For example:
Nikita
When will…
…Silverlight be finally on WM?
…there be WM6.7? [With SL and SL in Widgets]
…Widgets get IE8 WebSlices?
…century old base OS controls be shiny like XP>Vista?Windows Mobile
While we are not dicussing future versions of the product beyond what we announced at Mobile World Congress, I can say we are committed to bringing Silverlight to Windows Mobile in the future.
Mobile World Congress Begins!
If you are an avid fan of mobile technology, or even if you are just slightly interested, it will be hard to miss the coverage on the net this week, of the Mobile World Congress, staged in Barcelona annually. So this week there is going to be a glut of mobile news, and press releases, and new devices, some ho-hum and some ground breaking, but mainly lots of new toys that won’t be available to any of us for a while. Obviously I’m not there, I mean Doug wouldn’t spring for the trip
, so I’m hooking in to a few friends, that are a bit more interested in current trends, rather than the latest Diamond encrusted iPhone case that only lets you tweet to the twitter elite.
So to subject matter, the Android OS, where will it be placed in the mobile market this MWC. My friend Sascha Segan is on the ground in Barcelona, and has already made an astute observation, how does android fit into the mix this year? Not very well apparently!
iPhone Nano, Asus Eeephone, DellAxPhone: The Rumour Mill
Hmm, I might be described as obsessive, but all the things that are possible in the mobile device world are fodder for my intensely overpowering mental illness. Why is it so? Why am I driven to distraction. by all of this possible shiny new, not really existent yet, newness?
As an Eee and long time Axim user, the latter two devices, fascinate me, and the iPhone Nano, makes more and more sense every day, not a media player replacement, a dedicated phone, PDA, that takes all the best from the iPhone, and makes it really pocketable. You can all berate me now, but I think the iPhone Nano would be a good thing, fit in my pocket better.
So little mister reads more RSS feeds than anyone else in the world, has a rumour fest for you today, Why, “if they post it I’ll read it”, is that a warped quote from a movie?
Review: SBSH Calendar Touch.
Today I bring news of a new application from SBSH Software, Calendar Touch.
Well if your familiar with a SmartPhone application from SBSH called Papyrus, you would know that it is a complete calendar solution for windows mobile, non touch screen devices. Obviously a natural evolution for Papyrus, from a developers point of view, would be to enable it for windows mobile touch screen devices. Now a program with “Touch” in the title may seem to imply that this application is focused on finger friendliness, and could be misleading to many users, but I’ll let Amit from SBSH explain the naming of this product:
We could have used something like “SBSH Calendar Pro/Classic”, but I’m sure you’ll agree with me that Microsoft couldn’t have chosen more confusing names to indicate the different device platforms. I believe that the naming and use of “Touch” to indicate that this is a touch-supporting device is pretty common by now and it is not an indication to “thumb-oriented-operation”
An interesting point of contention, that resulted in a dialogue, that will probably see Calendar Touch (CT) head down the “Finger” or “Thumb” friendly road in the future, but for now let’s have a look at Calendar Touch in it’s first release
Windows 7 for Free… Well some pain included!
Everyone’s waiting for the new version of Windows to emerge, and hoping it will erase the Vista fiasco, as XP did to ME. Recently it came to light that if you attended certain conferences, you would go home with an advance copy of the operating system.
Who isn’t ready for Windows 7? That wiser, stabler, more streamlined OS with Vista’s good looks but an even prettier Start button and an alleged 15-second boot time? Heck, even Bill Gates is excited to get on to the next version. You can get your hands on a “pre-beta” version of Windows 7 by attending the Professional Developer Conference (PDC) in LA October 27 to 30, or the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC), also in LA shortly after, from November 5 to 7. Go get them, and then report back to us with some new info. [Vista Blog;]
So if you’re available, and have the connections, you can get your Windows Fix. Although what sort of fix it is I can’t say, cool or retro, I am really hoping that there’s a light at the end of this tunnel.
Whether this be an alpha or beta, it’s going to be a coup for Microsoft, but will the OS live up to the hype? With the advent of the “netbook” and a move by Apple to run one OS on all of it’s devices, will Windows 7 be the Windows Lite that has been rumoured. A Microsoft OS with a much more efficient and compact core. I suppose we’ll find out next month, but if you had the next big thing, how would you present it. I hope this is an example of how not to do it!
Will a corny video be the herald of the newest Windows OS?click the image above to go to the you tube page. Microsoft’s not really calling us all Kevin Bacon wannabe’s!
This May not be News!
Just been going through a few feeds and came across a disturbing post at one of my favourite sites. Apparently CoolSmartPhone.com is evil.
Seems they have had a little hiccough, and it should be fixed, sometime?
This just highlights the fact that you can have things like this happening with your site and they don’t show up in Windows Mobile applications. I’ve had no problem updating the site in NewsBreak, or Opera on WinMo, but in Firefox, I get a real red danger message!
Hopefully it’ll be fixed soon!
Good Luck Guys
Oh if you get the red screen of death you can By-Pass it, if you are game! There’s no reason not to! It does show though, that there are exploits we are not aware of, and all bloggers and site masters should have a look at this problem
Update: Sprite Backup 6.5
SpriteBackup has been one of the premier backup solutions for quite a while now, and whilst I know it by reputation I’ve never tried it. Not to make anyone jealous, but the team here at JAMM, received a copy of SpriteBackup, for Christmas 2007, I never installed it. My Bad. The fact that SpriteBackup has actually topped the 10 Million user mark says something though. What does that actually mean? There’s a hell of a lot of people out there waiting for updates.
So what’s new in this update?
A new interface, the ability to search your backups from the desk top/PC, desktop/PC backup manager, improved migration services [taking your favourite settings from one device to another], a one step backup mode for quicker, more convenient use and some general performance tweaks.
In saying all of that, I really have to have a look at the program, and see what it offers, especially since I looked at SPB’s latest renewal earlier. So welcome the SpriteBackup virgin, and stay tuned for a complete look at this update!
You can view all of the details of the update here
and these are the update options/policies:
Sprite Backup 5 Customers
Can upgrade for $10
Sprite Backup 6.xx OEM Customers
If Sprite Backup came with your device, you can also upgrade for $10.
Sprite Backup 6.xx Retail Customers
Can upgrade for free. If you purchased any retail Sprite Backup 6.xx series version simply enter your email address on this page to receive your free download link and code: Code Retrieval Page
Enjoy!
The Story continues and befuddles!
This new Microsoft campaign, is really vague, and I suppose that is what gives it power, and draws attention to it. All of us are expecting a defining statement, where as, we get tidbits. What is fascinating is where this will go? The tag to the latest inclusion to this Microsoft saga was about “connectivity” and the failure of Seinfeld and Gates, to really connect with the family they are billeted with, may amount to some innovative ease of personal networking, initiative.
I’m only guessing here, I really don’t get where this is going, obviously we are going to have to follow a long string of commercials, which may be the culmination of Bill’s childhood dreams to be a Hollywood star, to realise the culmination of this media campaign.
Anyone else getting a Woody Allen vibe from Bill in the already posted videos?
For me, I want the news and I want it now, and this sort of campaign leaves me nothing to work with, or look forward to, or want to have. It’s as fake and uninformative as the Knock Off pictured above.
It would be nice if Microsoft would be straight up and tell us what they’ve got!
Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta, Now available!
Earlier in the year I had a look at the Opera 9.5 Beta, though it was not official, and I was excited, now I’m sounding like some late night telemarketer, but this is exciting. I’ve been waiting for the release of the real Beta of opera 9.5 for mobile and it’s downloading as I type this.
I am so looking forward to browsing with this tomorrow, but I wonder if Opera can establish a world record for downloads with this most anticipated Beta.
