Some of the best gadgets are those that merge the old with the new. Retro styling is still fashionable, My last car was a 1961 Ford Falcon station wagon. The restoration trend, to preserve these great old stylish designs, sometime calls for innovations that meld older tech with new. Thus a marriage of mobile devices, like a retro car stereo, and an iPod, is something that crosses many Tech barriers.

Hands Up: is the Palm Pre an iPhone Killer?
I’ve never had a Palm device that I can recall, although I’ve resisted the urge to punch out the multitudes of people that have called my WinMo device a Palm Pilot.
The Palm Pre is, Pre release, Pre order, pre release and Pre viewed by many, but when Palm investors start playing up the Pre big time, you have to start wondering if they are getting the shakes over their investment, or if they really believe what they say?
“You know the beautiful thing: June 29, 2009, is the two- year anniversary of the first shipment of the iPhone,” McNamee said today in an interview in San Francisco. “Not one of those people will still be using an iPhone a month later.
I am incredulous at this sort of positive affirmation for an untested, untried, partially marketed Palm device that was rushed to the fore of Palms development process, to try to gain back some market visibility. Of Course investors in the company are going to talk it up, and I think that’s what they are doing!
Bigger than the Kindle2, Amazon Kindle App 4 iPhone!
News of the moment, I knew there was a use for Twitter, all of a sudden about an hour ago, people started tweeting that there was a new app in the iTunes store. Apparently Amazon have released an application for the iPhone that let’s you sync your Kindle and iPhone, remembering what you where doing on the Kindle and making that accessible on the iPhone.
Let’s face it the Kindle and Kindle 2 are portable, but are not going to be convenient in every situation where you might want a quick read, so with this application and an iPhone/iPod Touch you can seamlessly read on on a much more portable piece of hardware.
What’s more it’s a free application that you can Download from the iTunes store [US Only at the moment]. The implications for the eBook industry are also incredible, considering the uptake of the iPhone over the last couple of years, you might not want a Kindle, but if you have an iPhone? You’ll have the same access to Kindle/amazon eBooks with this application.
I’m thinking this is a pretty business savvy move from Amazon, the giant just rolls on

The really big thing about this update is that it announces Spb’s new approach, as Spb Wallet will eventually [dependant on app store processing] be available across three OS platforms. Windows Mobile, Symbian and iPhone. A first in the world of mobile software development. Gmail Contact and Calendar Sync, Possible!
A great heads up over at TechCrunch today, put me on to a beta that will make it possible to sync my Google contacts and Calendar to my Windows Mobile device. This is a fix I’ve been wanting for a while. There’s an iPhone app as well.
Nuevasync is a Beta application that allows users to sync OTA, Google contacts, and calendar, as well as their Plaxo contacts.
On your device go to the sign up page here and register, it’s a mobile friendly site. The settings are quite straight forward, and once you’ve set up Nuevasync it will work in the background with little maintenance needed.
It seems to be working quite well with the Tilt at the moment, and hasn’t given me a problems, I’ll persist with it and see how it goes. Worth a try at least! let me know what you think?

iPhone Nano, Asus Eeephone, DellAxPhone: The Rumour Mill
Hmm, I might be described as obsessive, but all the things that are possible in the mobile device world are fodder for my intensely overpowering mental illness. Why is it so? Why am I driven to distraction. by all of this possible shiny new, not really existent yet, newness?
As an Eee and long time Axim user, the latter two devices, fascinate me, and the iPhone Nano, makes more and more sense every day, not a media player replacement, a dedicated phone, PDA, that takes all the best from the iPhone, and makes it really pocketable. You can all berate me now, but I think the iPhone Nano would be a good thing, fit in my pocket better.
So little mister reads more RSS feeds than anyone else in the world, has a rumour fest for you today, Why, “if they post it I’ll read it”, is that a warped quote from a movie?
Quad Core iPhone and Firmware 3.0, The Rumour Mill.
Whilst we’ve all been astounded by the Palm news today, even the larger sites are praising Palm, and of course we are all overloaded by everything flooding out of CES. We seem to be forgetting, that quietly, in another corner of the United States, MacWorld is spinning quietly on its axis.
MacWorld hasn’t provided any stunning surprises, except for one jaw dropping rumour. A Quad Core processor for the iPhone. Somehow that makes me think of something like this
At the same time last year
iPhone Nano, Oh Please!!!
Unaccustomed as I am too pointing out the ludicrous, more ridiculous, utterly obvious rumours that appear in the mobile gadget world, I have hit some sort of glass ceiling, that I have to break through on this iPhone Nano thing.
Firstly, if there is actually an iPhone Nano imminent, would you want one ?
Secondly, with the withdrawal of the great Turtleneck, from the Apple keynote at MacWorld, would any one be expecting the announcement of a new device from Apple this January?
Now I know we have seen case manufacturers and component manufacturers, leak new devices in the past, but you have to wonder at XSKN, a Chinese case manufacturer, who produce a range of iPhone skins, firstly leaking something that looks like a a smaller silicone cover, that looks similair to their iPhone range.
Now we see that the cases are available in all of there mocked up glory on the XSKIN web site.
One could conclude, that the device is real, if a company is offering a case for it, and that would probably violate a whole lot of Apple NDA clauses, wouldn’t it, and have been shut down pretty quickly, even considering the language barrier.
So why is this getting so much mileage, from heaps of sites at the moment? Slow news week, overstuffed on Christmas treats? naivety, or all of the above?
I really find myself wondering if XSKIN think they have found a great way to make their site more visible, or if they really have some inside info, at the moment I’m going with the former. The only other thing I’ll say here is have a look at the wording of the link below, I’m now going to take some time to digest the ramifications of this story, and Christmas dinner!
“where cool is more than just a word” Hello??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

As If ? Windows Mobile on the iPhone!
Ever think that you’d found the next best thing to sliced bread, and then not really know what to do with it? Yesterday, the inter tubes were all afire with news of an iPhone running Windows Mobile. In the video it looks like this young Dev has ported WinMo to the iPhone, making it a dual boot system. At this point though, it’s really hard to tell whether this is real or fake. Others posted yesterday on this, and then revoked the post rather quickly, so it’s really hard to tell if this is factual or not.
