Digital Audio Versus Vynil, best of both worlds!

eplur2 This may seem like an off topic post, I mean what do your old LP’s have to do with mobility? With all of the Media player news this week, this really becomes relevant, and it’s a great device if you’re an audiophile of the vynil persuasion, no S&M inferences intended, you’d love a way to transfer your vynil to digital with all of the pops and clicks.
I only own a couple of original LP’s, two Max Roach albums, and a limited edition Grand Funk Railroad album.

Now the debate over which is best, the original LP or the same music, digitally re-mastered, is a sore point. what if you could take directly from an LP player to a digital source. I’ve never been quite cognisant of the differences, but I’ve always been scared of scratching a record. To the extent that I wouldn’t play them. The cassette tape saved me from a lot of the angst of handling vynil.

The Zune? Not always a joke!

Well it is and it falls in line with M$’s media, PR culpability. So you want to release a new media player in a line of successive devices, you think you’ve got the packaging right? You think you have the device form factor right? It ends up on the shelves of a retailer, before you can post the press release. That’s not “Priceless” although there’s a receipt!

120 Gb Zune
There’s a bunch of unboxing pictures at Gizmodo, if anyone’s interested!

I know it takes a very special person to appreciate a Zune

iPhonic Orchestra, catchy little ditty, or not!

I don’t know why but I’m attracted to all things musical this week. Today, this Video over at Endgadget really took me back to a time when, using analogue instruments an found objects to make music was considered an artistic movement. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t think this is the next big thing, but the ingenuity and creative drive of these guy’s, experimenting with their mobiles to make music, really beats the other digital efforts of the last six months. A.K.A. all those silly games that require you to buy instruments that aren’t instruments. Enjoy

iPod Junkies, Here’s Your Fix!

OK, no sarcasm intended here, this is a great option for all of my fellow iPod owners. This is a great solution for all of us that have more than one i device. You can get a two berth or a four berth iPod dock from Griffin, that will allow you to charge your iPhone, Touch, iPod and Nano all at the same time. I don’t even think this is obsessive, I mean I’ve only got three iPods at the moment. It’s a nice option to have!

In a multi-iPod/iPhone household like mine, this device looks like it could be a godsend for tidying up the rats’ nest of cables on our kitchen countertop. Here’s a single charging dock that can recharge up to four iPods or iPhones simultaneously.

This is a really great response, to what has become a serious problem for lot’s of people, and means you don’t have to line up behind the kids to get your morning commute charge for your iPod
