One thing that is self evident of late in the Windows Mobile community is the excitement about forthcoming updates to the OS. Although there is a huge amount of insecurity about whether a lot of those users will even be able to access the upgrade. There’s a device specification lower/lowest limit already defined for Windows Mobile 6.5, and Microsoft have already handballed the responsibility to the device manufacturers. That’s right in a sly move, Microsoft actually left it up to the OEM’s, mainly HTC, to alleviate the update drought!
So what is actually going to happen?
Who knows really, but recently over at FaceBook, as an off shoot of the Windows Mobile Fanpage, there’s been a stirring, that’s delivered plenty of questions, and few if any answers!
So what does all this mean, check out the thread on the FB page and see if you agree with the other WinMo users over there
Aaron Woodman, Director for Consumer Experiences for Windows Mobile, will be available the week of March 23rd to take questions on anything related to your consumer experiences with Windows phones. Post your questions below, and then check in a week and see the information we’ve accumulated.
Aaron may not be able to answer every question—and he won’t be giving away any deep trade secrets—but he has a wealth of fascinating knowledge to share on our favorite mobile phones.
Here’s the link to the thread!
I recently had a look at SPB Wallet 2.0, taking the point of view, what’s new/ and what makes me fell warm and fuzzy about the update, or what works well for me in the update. Now Clinton is using the sane device as me to look at the program, and He’s treated it like a first time look, it’s a really great look at SPB Wallet 2.0.
If you really are having a hard time deciding on a wallet application for windows mobile, hit the link, Clinton’s put up a manual…

Hmm, I might be described as obsessive, but all the things that are possible in the mobile device world are fodder for my intensely overpowering mental illness. Why is it so? Why am I driven to distraction. by all of this possible shiny new, not really existent yet, newness?
As an Eee and long time Axim user, the latter two devices, fascinate me, and the iPhone Nano, makes more and more sense every day, not a media player replacement, a dedicated phone, PDA, that takes all the best from the iPhone, and makes it really pocketable. You can all berate me now, but I think the iPhone Nano would be a good thing, fit in my pocket better.
So little mister reads more RSS feeds than anyone else in the world, has a rumour fest for you today, Why, “if they post it I’ll read it”, is that a warped quote from a movie?

Incredibly I’m not sure whether I’m amused, bemused or just simply annoyed by this device. Most of us think of chic, technically smooth, and well modernist even futuristic, as terms that would describe a new device that we would even consider as a possible replacement for our current devices. I don’t think cute comes into most of our vocabularies when we consider a mobile device.
My fascination, and somehow it has also become a psychological profiling endeavour, and leads me to places where I never thought I would go, fascinating and fearful. So would you give your kids a Tele – Teddy?

You have to love emulator’s, I mean imitation is one of the highest forms of flattery, right? The iPhone has generated it’s own cornucopia of imitators, even before the release of what for ever more shall be dubbed iPhone “feature disadvantaged”, meaning lacking a lot of the miraculous features that should come with the “Jesus” phone.
There were enough leaks prior to the disadvantaged’s release for people to do incredibly complex mock ups, with no real idea of the form factor of the actual device.
If you Google “fake iPhone” the results are incredible and go well back before the release of the generation 1 iPhone. So what about an iPhone that doesn’t work, but does everything else right and satisfies Apples iPhone registration process?

A quick heads up for anyone that’s still feeling christmassy, the HTC Shift is now available in the U.S. [not Canada]. It’ll set you back a tiny A$1629.99.
It’s shipping with an 800MHz Intel processor, Windows Vista® Business [puke] and 1GB DDR2 microDIMM RAM. Sounds like you might want to send it to me to review, doesn’t it?

I was minding my own business this morning and was quite relaxed, cleaning out the trailer fridge. When it suddenly dawned on me, holidays over! The Life Center reopens this Wednesday, 16/1/07, we are back into it with a vengeance! I’m wondering how many of you guys are starting something new this week as well? Oh well, better make a start on the walk in freezer.
Ok this came up yesterday, over at MoDaCo, and I didn’t think much about it but now there are some very interesting updates to the original post, that I will say, really takes the cake.
Mark this as from the ‘oh my goodness I really hope they are joking’ department, but reports are coming in thick and fast of users being prompted with ‘30 day trial’ message upon signing into Windows Live Messenger.
For me this adds insult to injury, we pay through the teeth for Microsoft products, that are half baked, and dependant on user feedback, to be brought to completion. I’m still running XP for precisely this reason, and when you think that Microsoft has only recently released Service pack 3 for XP which encapsulates all of the past fixes up to this date, it’s obvious that they sell flawed products, knowingly.
Does Microsoft really think that people will pay for their “late to the game” online applications, or compete with Google’s free offering. Well, Microsoft has responded to the original post.
